Graduated Spiral Layout

The platforms do not alternate left-right like a zigzag. They rotate around the trunk in a true spiral, each one offset roughly 90 degrees from the one above. The top platform faces forward and extends outward as a wide half-circle. The second rotates to the right. The third swings to the left. The fourth and smallest tucks close to the trunk near the base. This rotational layout gives the piece a three-dimensional presence that changes depending on the angle you view it from.

Front-Facing Gill Carving on Every Platform

The gill detail on this piece is carved into the visible front face where each platform meets the trunk. Tight, evenly spaced radial lines fan outward from the stem connection to the outer rim of each cap. The gills face the room, not the floor, so the full carved pattern is visible at eye level without looking up from underneath.
